Biography:
Curtis Durrington was born into a middle class farming family in Daphne, Alabama. At the ripe age of 18, farming wasn't where Durrington wanted to be. He left Daphne, complete with his parent's blessings in the his '85 Ford. His destination wasn't known at the time and continued to be in question as he bounded from state-to-state, city-to-city. A higher power...and flat tire...stopped him in New Haven, New Mexico.

New Haven isn't a "haven" for much of anything. It houses a county high school and a couple of run down gas stations as well as a few "farms" spotting the desert backdrop. It was by pure chance the old Ford came to a stop in front of one of New Haven's newer establishments. That building, bright blue metal with "Chris Lee Wrestling Academy" adorning a sign hanging over it's entrance would change Curtis Durrington's life forever.

A friendship was born that day between Durrington and "The Icon" Chris Lee. That friendship lead to Curtis's interest in professional wrestling and ultimately his arrival in World Pro Wrestling. Seen as a microphone liability at the time, Durrington was given a southern rock gimmick and the stage name “Freebird” Curtis Lowe. Unfortunetly, Durrington never did catch solid footing within World Pro Wrestling and would wash out in late 2005 over growing frustrations with the handling of his career. A member of Lee’s G-Force group, with “The Icon”, David Capital, and Kelly Capital, Durrington was a fixture on WpW TV as both a singles and tag wrestler.

After leaving World Pro Wrestling in late 2005, Durrington took the opportunity to undergo a minor shoulder surgey and with Lee’s connections found IWU in April 2006. While in IWU, Durrington took the organization by storm. His first IWU victory came in his debut match as he won an over-the-top Battle Royal for the right to face Seth at "New Dawn" for the Downtown Title. Sadly, things didn't come to fruition. The Independent Wrestling Union folded two days before the filming of "New Dawn", due to financial struggles.

However, less than three days after IWU closed its doors, another offer came Durrington's way. The Blazenwing Wrestling Federation extended a contract offer to the budding superstar. "Big Country" signed immediately, and won his debut match in quick fashion. The victory, over former IWU member Cody Galle, saw Durrington win a thousand dollars. His next match would turn out to be worth much more. On May 7, 2006, Curtis Durrington successfully defeated Yumi Misake to become BWF Cruiser-X Champion!

On May 27th, Durrington's streak came to an end. Tyger Lilly pinned Krystal Lyne in the Cruiser-X Crackdown match to win Durrington's Cruiser-X Championship. The loss dropped his career record to 3-1-0. Durrington did not fight another match as a BWF wrestler. The organization was going through a turbulent period, and Durrington chose to opt out and return to New Haven, where he served as a guest trainer at the Chris Lee Wrestling Academy.

January 10, 2007 saw Curtis Durrington restart his wrestling career, as "Big Country" inked a contract with Championship Wrestling from Florida, a regional wrestling organization working the Tampa area. Entered into their inaugural Florida Champions League tournament, Durrington made a big impression as he defeated Billie Stradlin in his debut match via his patented Daphne Deathlock. “Big Country” would go on to dispose of “The Hangman” in the second round of the Florida Champions League tournament.

Championship Wrestling from Florida closed their doors four days after Durrington's victory over “The Hangman“ in February 2007. For over a year, he returned to New Mexico and spent time working at the Chris Lee Wrestling Academy and lending a hand to the now-defunct Desert Sun Wrestling…an organization founded by Chris Lee.

However, Durrington couldn’t hide his desire to wrestle again...and Mid West Wrestling gave him that opportunity in February 2008. Unfortunately, MWW was closed with little warning prior to Durrington’s debut against Jacob Foster. Following the quick demise of MWW, Durrington began to face personal troubles…all centered around his dependence on the bottle. While few people knew of the alcohol problems facing “Big Country”, the liquor took it toll both professionally and personally. With demons on his back, Durrington signed a pay-per-appearance agreement with Supreme Wrestling in July 2009.

As a member of Supreme Wrestling, Durrington would defeat Brian Sinel in his July 20 debut, before competing to a draw in six-man tag action on August 3 and falling to “The Idol” on August 10. Following his match with “The Idol”, Durrington oddly walked away from Supreme Wrestling citing “personal issues”, and subsequently wouldn't wrestle professionally again until July 2011. Durrington voluntarily entered an alcohol rehabilitation program on May 15, 2010 and spent 90 days within the program. Upon completion, Durrington returned to the Chris Lee Wrestling Academy in an administrative role in the absence of CLWA owner Chris Lee, who underwent major knee surgery.

“Big Country” would resurface in July 2011 in impressive fashion with Pacific Championship Wrestling out of Santa Barbara, California. Durrington would rip off the straight wins, over Mark Hunter, Herold Rot and John Matthews, before opting to leave PCW for Galveston Island Wrestling in Galveston, Texas. Durrington’s debut match in GIW was held on Thursday, August 18 and saw Durrington defeat Matthew Dannys. He would go on to win GIW's Television Championship on September 11, 2011 - a title he would hold for just under a month.  Durrington would leave Galveston Island Wrestling in early October 2011 due to a neck injury that would require two surgeries between over the following two years.

He returned to the Chris Lee Wrestling Academy in early 2014 and has finally been medically cleared to reenter the ring professionally. With a long history of success and extensive experience in regional promotions, Durrington quickly went 2-0 in his debut with North Atlantic Wrestling before looking abroad for opportunities with UKWF.

Biography:   
"The Icon" was born in 1978 in Los Cruces, New Mexico. He lived the life of an all-American child. Growing up, he played in a band and took part in sports, where he was an all-conference performer in three sports his senior year of high school. After graduating from New Haven High School, Lee took off in an effort to find his niche in life. It didn't take him long to find it. At the age of 22, Lee met a small independent wrestling promoter, who was looking for a few fit bodies to push into the ring. Lee at first laughed at the thought of professional wrestling being his life's calling. However, he entered the ring two months later in his first match, fighting for that independent federation, the UEWF. Lee and a friend whom he trained with joined forces there and became the first and only tag team champions the federation ever had, a reign that lasted nearly four months before the financial burdens of the federation sent it belly-up.

"The Icon" didn't stay down long, as he moved onto a bigger stage and signed a deal with the EHWF. Lee took home a Hardcore Championship there after power-bombing Hero through a hanging cell. However, a series of disagreements between Lee and front office personal forced him out. He took nearly 4 months off from the sport, before spending a short period as a member of the HWF roster. Lee fought for the HWF for quite some time. However, financial problems caused HWF to crumble and ultimately fold. The EHWF, the organization Lee was forced to leave after heated disagreements with front office personal, ultimately signed a number of HWF members.

Lee wondered openly if it was time for a more secure job than what professional wrestling had offered. In the end, wrestling won out. Lee and two acquaintances in the industry started the North American Wrestling Federation. Lee dominated the competition with relative ease and marched to his first, and so far only, World Championship. Unfortunately, owning and operating an organization was too difficult for Lee and his group. In a theme that has plagued a number of other start-ups by Lee, a lack of funding and inexperience spelled doom for the NAWF.

Lee took time to think about his future. Chris, however, couldn't stay away from the ring for long. The only federation to offer Lee a contract was none other than EHWF. The fed Lee was forced out of some time early. It wasn't an ideal situation yet Lee quickly rose to championship level status within the organization.  In his final match, Lee, who entered the match as EHWF U.S. Champion, was placed in an "I Quit" match, with the stipulation that if he lost, he quit, but if he won, a World Championship title shot awaited "The Icon". The night of the match, the outcome was predetermined. The CEO led on attack on "The Icon" during his match, beat him near unconsciousness, and lied about him giving up. Lee was without a job, again.

Lee took some time off, again, before stumbling upon the WpW. He scheduled a meeting with Tyger Lilly to discuss the possibilities of "The Icon" joining her ranks, and a contract offer soon followed. Lee's impact was felt immediately. He took out Cyren, Centurion, and Lost Soul with ease. That last win giving him the WpW Big Gold Championship. A belt in which he defended via a draw at World Pro Wrestling's PPV event, Heatwave: Minnesota Meltdown, against Rey Sanchez. During his time in WpW, the wily veteran joined forces with some of the hottest young wrestlers in the game, David Capital, his sister Kelly, and Lee's friend Curtis Lowe (Durrington) who came together to form G-Force, a stable that would go on to release their rage on WpW. 

Chris Lee chose to leave the business for nearly a year following WpW's temporary closure, before which he lost his Big Gold title in a thriller to Rey Sanchez. After a short stint away from the ring, Lee chose to give wrestling another go-round. In his first match after returning to the ring, Lee won the WpW All-Time TV Championship in Houston during the WrestiVal III pre-show. Lee would hold the title for almost two months, before ultimately dropping the strap to Rey Sanchez. "The Icon" would leave WpW in August of 2006 and undergo surgery on his right shoulder.

2007 saw Lee dive into another ill-fated organization of his own, Desert Pro Wrestling. After it’s demise in under twenty-four months, "The Icon" would return in-ring for a stint with Razorback Championship Wrestling in 2009. After one-match with RCW, Lee sought medical assistance for a knee injury suffered early in his career. Significant scar tissue and other complications led to additional knee surgeries.  At the age of 29, a return by Lee seemed unlikely. However, he felt otherwise.

In July 2011, Lee returned “home” to World Pro Wrestling for what can be considered his most productive run as a professional wrestler. Lee won the WpW All-Time Television Championship for the second time in his career during the first match of his third stint with WpW. Lee would add the WpW Continental Championship in early October 2011 at Heatwave. While the individual success was exciting, the company itself was a shell of what it once was. On September 27, 2011, Lee elected to resign immediately from WpW and handed over both the Television and Continental Championships. “The Icon”, voted #15 on World Pro Wrestling’s list of their Top 50 performers all-time, vowed not to return to World Pro Wrestling after his three previous campaigns.  The organization soon closed entirely.

At 33 years old, speculation was that Lee should be done. However, he did return for action during a short stint with the UWA, wrestling periodically over three years.  After leaving UWA, he worked primarily with the Chris Lee Wrestling Academy for two years while undergoing an additional surgery on his right knee.  Lee also, and continues, to do occasional work for Kristoff Sterling Promotions - current owner of Giant of Africa Championship Wrestling.

In early 2016, he resurfaced at the age of 38 on a more consistent basis in Texas, working events for both Hard Knocks Wrestling's AIR Lucha Libre and Championship Wrestling from Texas, where he is currently the CWT Roadhouse Champion at 38 years old.   After sixteen years in the industry, Lee is looking to spend some time working abroad in the twilight of his career.
