OOC: Below is a segment sent through by Pendragon for inclusion in Aftermath, which I somehow did not receive. Apologies to both handlers - and the rest of you, enjoy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The camera switches to an area backstage at the Shepherd's Bush Empire, to show the team of Pendragon - Neal Durden and Lowri Moss - stood in front of a UKWF backdrop. The young Welsh couple are each dressed in their ring attire, in addition to which they are both wearing Pendragon t-shirts (available from Irish Whip Clothing). A smiling Lowri offers a greeting.
Lowri Moss: What’s occurring, UKWF?
That draws a pop from the audience present inside the venue. Lowri smiles again, before continuing.
Lowri Moss: Over seven months have passed since Neal and I last got to set foot inside a UKWF ring, although it feels like it has been even longer. In that time, we have competed in numerous different promotions around the world. In fact, just in the past two weeks alone, we have wrestled in Germany, Italy, and the US, amongst other places. But regardless of wherever else we go, the UKWF will always be where we started our careers - this is where the two of us first met, this is where Pendragon was born, and tonight...this feels like a homecoming for us.
Neal looks at Lowri with a smile on his face. He then places his hand on her shoulder as he speaks.
Neal Durden: What Lowri is saying is true. We might be making waves around the globe these days…to the point, we’re able to stand toe to toe with some of the best in the world, but the UKWF is still our home. This is the place where it all began…so it’s only fitting that we made our way back here.
Lowri Moss: We’ve been referred to as “the most consensual team” in the UKWF.
Lowri and Neal share a laugh at that description of the two of them.
Lowri Moss: I think we could probably also lay claim to being the most popular team in the UKWF. But there’s something else that we would like to be known as:
Neal Durden: The best team in the UKWF.
Lowri gives a nod.
Lowri Moss: The last time you saw Neal and I in the ring was last July, at Summerfest, when the two of us overcame The Order. We both believe that if the UKWF hadn’t gone on hiatus following that show, then we would’ve already gone on to become the Tag Team Champions, and so now that we’re back home, we fully intend to make up for lost time.
Neal gave a smile, before he took the word from Lowri.
Neal Durden: And I feel tonight’s match is a fitting one to start our climb back to where we belong.
The smile on Neal’s face fades a bit, as he turns a bit more serious in his words.
Neal Durden: Because when two fan favourite teams clash, such as Pendragon and The Connection…when two teams that know each other as well as we do clash…oh, man…fireworks explode, and believe me when I say this, tonight you’re in for a treat.
There is a small sigh from Lowri, before she then speaks.
Lowri Moss: But there’s another reason why this match is such an appropriate one for us. You see, our lowest point in the UKWF was a loss we suffered at Challenge of Champions, back in December 2016, in a match to determine new number one contenders for the tag titles. And our opponents that night were none other than The Australian-American Connection.
A wry smile crosses her face.
Lowri Moss: I know that Oscar the Grouch has gone, with Evelyn Grenier having replaced him as Valerie Holcomb’s partner, but whether it’s The Australian-American Connection, or simply The Connection, this match is a reminder of the closest that we’ve come before now to getting a shot at the UKWF tag titles, and it’s a reminder of how we blew that opportunity. Tonight though, there won’t be a repeat of what happened fourteen months ago - tonight we get our first win on our ascent towards the top of the tag team division.
Neal Durden: Like I said two weeks ago...The Connection, The Dogs of War, The Masters, or whoever else wants to try to stop us…be ready, because Pendragon are back in the UKWF, and we’re gunning for those titles.
Neal and Lowri look towards the camera confidently, before it then cuts away.
