The legal battle opposing joint United Kingdom Wrestling Federation owners James Kensington and Stella Chalmers-Blythe has finally ended, with the company name and assets being attributed in full to Mr. Kensington and Ms Blythe having to pay the defendant for emotional and material damages.
Immediately following this victory, however, Mr Kensington went on record to say he would be stepping down from his duties as owner and general manager of the fledgling London-based wrestling company. He stated that he wanted to have more free time to spend with his daughter, ring announcer Katherine Kensington, and wrestler John Trevelyan - alias Johnny Ajax - as the couple expect their first baby. 'Katherine needs all the support I can give her, and that is not compatible with running a successful business venture of any kind', Mr Kensington explained. It was later speculated that the former owner may have already sold UKWF to an undisclosed buyer, for an as-yet unknown sum.
What is known, however, is that the company's return show is set to take place on Wednesday, January 31, at the same venue UKWF first debuted in - the Electric Ballroom, in Camden, London, considered by fans to be the promotion's home base. It was also revealed in a press release that all titles would be vacated ahead of the comeback show, but that both reigning Champions and Number One Contenders at the time of the company's closure would be given a chance to reclaim each of the promotion's four belts. At the time of writing, all but two of the athletes involved in title matches last Autumn had renewed their contracts with the promotion, leading many to believe several title matches could take place at the return show.
As of yet, however, the only confirmed match will see guest star Emery Layton defend her Union Battleground Trench War Championship against UKWF original Blaise Fader, in a high profile match which shows the company aiming to pick up exactly where it left off.
