Combined Weight:
175 kg (386 lbs)

Allies (if any):
N/A
Rivals (if any):
N/A
Dynamic:
A couple of trouble-making hooligans who've come up through the business together, united by a shared hometown, musical tastes, and generally shit attitudes.
Team Strengths:
Well-Oiled Machine - while Gaz and Nathan apart might not have what it takes to take on those bigger, stronger, and more skilled than themselves, united under the banner of NO MERSEY is where they both excel. It's easy to say a tag team can 'work together', but these two play off each other's strengths and styles well, and know each other well enough to dictate the pace and balance of their matches, especially when it comes to taking the wind out of a fired-up babyface's sails.
Those Scouse Bastards - they're a couple of scallies, through and through, and while cheat and manipulate the rules to whatever it takes to pull out a W; nothing is off limits.
Team Weaknesses:
Short, Sharp Shock - NO MERSEY's propensity for rule-breaking? That'll get them in trouble more often than not (not that they particularly care). They're not all that subtle about their cheating ways, which can easily foil their plans, especially if a match isn't going their way to begin with.
Preferred Match Type(s):
Tornado Tag Team
Least Favourite Match Type(s)
Battle Royals
Team Finishers (max. 2):
Mersey Killing (Rope-hung Devoed-T/Shooting Star Press combo)
Shanks and the Paisley (Born to Run/THE Wristlock combo)
Team/Tandem Moves:
Step-up Say Hello to Liverpool
Sunset Flip by Wayne, followed by a Kop in the Cradle
Inverted Atomic Drop by Wayne to a midair opponent, followed by Arms Across Anfield
Surfboard/Double Stomp combo
Biography (extended background on team formation):
Gaz and Nathan met each other early in their careers, but at very different points; while Gaz was injured, he had taken up honing his mic skills as a manager, originally leading a stable of local talent against a then-heroic high-flyer Nathan Wayne, whose flashy moveset and undefeated streak had initially wowed crowds at their local indies, but soon soured on him due to his lack of charisma and (boring) undefeated streak. It was at the zenith of the crowd turning on Wayne that he and a healed-up Gaz united as the tag team that would become NO MERSEY, and they've been slowly making names for themselves ever since, spurning the smaller promotions that once rejected them and moving onto greener pastures - in this case, the newly-rebooted United Kingdom Wrestling Federation.

Anfield, Liverpool
Billed From:
Liverpool
Entrance Theme:
'Two Tribes' - Frankie Goes to Hollywood
Entrance Description (please keep simple and adequate for an indie promotion):
The air attack warning sounds like - this is the sound.
The lights go down over the venue as the howling air raid siren drones behind mournful piano keys. As the orchestral intro builds, the spotlights on the stage flash with each crashing cymbal. Just as the introduction sweeps down from its crescendo, the thumping, synth-y bassline of 'Two Tribes' kicks in, and the spotlight returns with Gaz McGuinty underneath. He sneers and mugs at the crowd, and makes his way down the ramp, confronting and belittling anybody who dares get close enough to trying him.
As Holly Johnson croons over the music (and the boos), Gaz stalks down the ramp and circles the ring. Where some wrestlers would take the time high-five or hype up the audience, Gaz makes it a point to be as disruptive as possible; instead of slapping hands, he slaps phones and drinks out of hands, and offers those who don't have anything in arm's reach a middle finger. After his lap around the ring, he mounts the apron, taking in the last barrage of derision before vaulting the ropes and taking his corner, scowling and mouthing off at his opponent, the referee, and anybody else in his periphery.
Personality:
If you wanted to mix every negative stereotype about Liverpool and its residents in a blender, shake it up, and pour it into the casting mould of a wrestler, you'd get Gaz McGuinty. He's rude, he's brash, he's ignorant, and he's cocky as all hell, and loud as hell to boot. The generally unfair prejudices of Scousers the world over can be found in him; a street thug with no regard for manners or the rule of law, a rowdy hooligan disrupting the peace at any given opportunity, and believes every chance at glory is entitled to him for simply existing.
Despite this, he takes care of his own. When it comes to his No Mersey partner, Nathan Wayne, he'll have his back no matter the odds, and won't leave his side if things go belly-up.
In the ring, he'll lie, cheat and steal his way to any victory he can; illegal moves, low blows and dirty tricks are all well within Gazza's wheelhouse. If he can't bully or make a fool out of the ref or his opponent, he's actually quite methodical in the ring, at least when his ego's not in the way; any weakness he can detect, he will exploit with pleasure. The self-proclaimed Wristlock Master, Gaz insists on trying to submit every opponent he faces with his signature wristlock, THE Wristlock. If he can't, he'll just try again. And again. And again. And again...
Alignment:
Heel
Allies (if any):
Nathan Wayne
Rivals (if any):
N/A
Strengths (2 or more):
Catch As Catch Can - despite his attitude and ego, Gaz is a methodical worker in the ring, and can't be underestimated. His style, cheating and rule-breaking aside, harkens back to the old school, World of Sport-style grappling; he works the limbs (especially the arm, setting up for his submission) and wears down his opponent with rest holds and flash pins.
Partners in Crime - Gaz isn't a loner, even though he drives just about everybody else away from him. Alongside his tag team partner, Nathan Wayne, Gaz makes it a point to excel where other teams often fail in seamless teamwork and complementing each other's styles... as well as cheating their way to easy wins.
Weaknesses (2 or more):
Pride Cometh Before the Fall - Gaz thinks he's hot shit. He wouldn't call himself things like The Scouse Superman or Liverpool's Greatest Export if he didn't. He thinks he can outsmart, outrun and out-wrestle anybody he's put in the ring with. When that appears to be untrue, he doesn't have much of a backup plan, especially if his tag partner isn't waiting for him in his corner.
Chat Shit Get Banged - if there's anybody that'll waste time and energy riling up the crowd or his opponents rather than actually fighting effectively, it's Gaz. He's a whole lot of talk, and without Nathan Wayne backing him up, not much walk.

Biography (extended background on your character):
Since Gaz was a young boy, there was only one thing he wanted to be: a striker for Liverpool FC, like Robbie Fowler. Then he broke his ankle and decided football was stupid.
Then, there was another one thing he wanted to be: a kung-fu master. Then he lost too many fights and decided kung-fu was stupid.
Then, there was another one thing he wanted to be: a professional wrestler.
Despite several false starts, nagging injuries, failed gimmicks and blown chances, he's stuck with this one. Helps that he's got his friend, Nathan Wayne, at his side too.

Entrance Theme:
'Two Tribes' - Frankie Goes to Hollywood
Entrance Description:
The air attack warning sounds like - this is the sound.
The lights go down over the venue as the howling air raid siren drones behind mournful piano keys. As the orchestral intro builds, the spotlights on the stage flash with each crashing cymbal. Just as the introduction sweeps down from its crescendo, the thumping, synth-y bassline of 'Two Tribes' kicks in, and the spotlight returns with Nathan Wayne underneath. The crowd boos Nathan and he mean mugs everyone close to him before turning his nose up at the fans, not giving them the time of day.
Stopping just shy of the apron, Nathan gives one more look at the crowd before painting his face with disgust and rolling into the ring. He adjusts his jean vest before heading over to his corner (affectionately named Wayne's Manor). Nathan hops up to the turnbuckle and takes his seat with his head hung low, his wet, brown hair covering his face as he awaits for the match to begin.
Personality:
Just a right prick. Arrogant, ruthless, and just all around unpleasant, Nathan Wayne is only out to make a name for himself. When an opportunity is presented, he'll take it and do whatever it takes to succeed, no matter what bridges he burns or who he has to put beneath his boot to get there. Hell, sometimes he'll pick a fight just to pick one. The lone exception to that rule is his tag team partner Gaz McGuinty. And when Nathan does pick those fights, Gaz will be right there to back him up.
Though the worst part of all? He just looks like a rat in general, stuck in an eternal 90s grunge phase.
Alignment:

Allies (if any):
Gaz McGuinty
Rivals (if any):

Strengths (2 or more):
Strength Through Arrogance - for a lot of wrestlers, being overly cocky is their downfall. For Nathan? That's his confidence booster right there. He steps into every fight knowing he's going to give it his all and that he's going to win it (even if that's not always the case, but don't tell him that).
It Takes Two - and to back up Nathan's arrogance is his partner, Gaz McGuinty. The two have made it their mission to perfect their craft as a team and constantly push each other instead of fighting for their own personal success. When Nathan's in trouble, he's confident knowing that Gaz is right behind him and vise versa.
Weaknesses (2 or more):
It Takes Two Part Two - for just as much Gaz is there to help Nathan, if he's not there to back his partner up, Nathan's in trouble. The two of them are a well oiled machine and if one gear stops, the whole system falls apart. And in this case, No Mersey is said machine.
Reckless Endangerment - while Nathan's up for any challenge and will pick fights just for the sake of doing so, that can get him into plenty of trouble. His arrogant confidence can only take him so far before his mouth writes him a check he can't cash and he's more than likely getting his ass kicked.

Biography (extended background on your character):
Growing up just in time to enjoy the absolute best of the 90s, a young Nathan Wayne fell in love with the American grunge scene. Wanting to emulate his idols (minus the copious drug use), Nathan spent a decent chunk of his youth practicing in multiple shoddy sounding garage bands and that never amounted to anything. So while his interest in being the next Kurt Cobain faded away, the attitude remained. And with the rise of grunge, came the rise of edgy wrestling. Nathan was able to channel that angst into something new and that was professional wrestling.
With his mates, they'd wrestle in the home, despite his mother's ultimate disdain for the sport. And playtime would come to an end after someone got hurt or something would break, but Nathan never wanted to stop. So while everyone around him grew out of it, the desire never left Nathan. As soon as he could, wrestling was the dream career, and in his early teens, he'd travel hours away from home just to train in some dodgy gym in the middle of nowhere.
Already a 7 year vet at the age of 24, Nathan Wayne's wrestled all up and down England, striving for the same success of his grunge and wrestling idols, but never quite making it. Now with his best mate Gaz McGuinty by his side, Nathan's ready to make another push to make it big.
