Before the match begins, a video package recaps the events leading up to this confrontation. Sarah Lacklan is seen punching out a referee, then protesting her suspension along with Kenzi Grey and dozens of their fans. This, in turn, brings out Mr. Kensington, who declares the duo will have a match at Summerfest, against an opponent of his choice, and with a stipulation of their choice. A quick higlight reel for The Vision completes the package, setting the tone for what is to come!
Lord Mountevan's Rules: Team Kickass v The Vision
The match starts with Sarah Lacklan offering Owen Gonsalves a handshake. The Australian looks puzzled for a moment at this gesture, but promptly steps forward to take it...
...only for Sarah to pull her hand back, openly laughing at her opponent, and drawing the ire of the crowd!
The reaction from both crowd and opponents seems to give Sarah pause, and she appears genuinely apologetic as she once again steps forward, hand outstretched. Owen is understandably wary of falling for the same trick again, and therefore reluctant to take the proffered hand, leading Sarah to prompt him by meaningfully wiggling her hand. The Australian, however, is still hesitant, and it is therefore his partner who chooses to give the Team Kickass member a second chance, stepping forward to take her hand in his...
...only to find himself getting pulled forward, off-balance, and trapped in an arm-wringer!
As the bell rings, making Sarah Lacklan and Craig Anderson the two legal people at the start of the matchup, Kenzi Grey is seen applauding her beloved's cunning tactics from behind the corner turnbuckle, whilst Owen shouts encouragement to Craig, urging him to reverse the hold. This, Anderson does; his wits once again being about him, the journeyman is quick to spin out of Sarah's arm wringer and reverse it into one of his own!
Caught off-guard – her least favourite position – the heiress shrieks, more from frustration than pain, and shoots her leg backwards, looking to connect with a heel kick. Craig, however, sees it coming, and quickly moves his arms from Sarah's own arm to her leg, grabbing it and causing her to fall face-first onto the mat! He then just as quickly wrenches her ankle, causing the blonde to jolt!
For once, however, Sarah reacts quickly, throwing Anderson off with a mule kick which allows her to lunge forward and grab hold of the ropes. She then wraps herself fully around the bottom rope, for good measure, her message clear: she does not want to be touched.
The crowd once again begin to boo as the referee, at Anderson and Goncalves' behest, tells Sarah to pull herself off of the ropes and come forward. He then holds Anderson back, telling him to regain the centre of the ring and give Lacklan some space – a request the Englishman is happy to comply with.
Even with a clearing in front of her, however, Sarah Lacklan is nothing less than over-dramatic as she slowly, begrudgingly untangles herself from the ropes and regains the centre of the ring. Once the referee steps out of the way and Craig Anderson makes as if to lunge towards her, she once again shows her acting credentials, by leaping backwards at least a foot, with a shriek, and once again grabbing onto the ropes – an act which, predictably, draws the ire of the crowd once again.
This time, the referee is not amused either, and his trademark temper begins to show as he admonishes Sarah Lacklan to stop her time-wasting tactics and wrestle. This quite visibly flusters the Team Kickass member, who immediately begins to shriek in the official's face, letting him know exactly who she is, and who her father is, and what she could do to his career
The threat of punching him out again – clearly the ace up the blonde's sleeve, at least in her own mind – is saved for last; however, to the wrestler's dumbstruck horror, the referee chooses to fight back against these threats this time around, and issues her with a public warning! The fans cheer as Katherine Kensington's announcement makes it official, while Sarah is left to gasp in awe and stamp her foot petulantly.
Before she can properly finish recovering from her surprise, however, Sarah feels herself be pulled back into the centre of the ring, and finds herself held snugly by Craig Anderson! The Brit has apparently taken it upon himself to remind the blonde that there is a match going on and, before she so much has time to attempt to wriggle free, throws her overhead with a straitjacket suplex!
The move visibly rattles Sarah, who may not have been expecting to actually wrestle before the end of the first round, and Craig is quick to exploit his opponent's disorientation, rushing in and connecting with a low dropkick to the side of Lacklan's head! This, predictably, causes the already groggy Sarah to fall to the mat, completely unconscious, and Craig is quick to build upon his spell of momentum yet further, by rolling through to his feet and connecting with a baseball bat slide! Then, as Sarah topples off the apron and to the outside, he gives the crowd at the Scarborough Open Air Theatre the first taste of his team's trademark 'flippy shit' by launching into a run and connecting with a plancha to the outside! The move catches Lacklan just standing up, and sends her hurtling back down to the floor outside the ring, right along with Anderson!
The crowd erupt as the two wrestlers go down, and a chant of 'FLIP-PY-SHIT!' immediately begins the moment Anderson vaults over the ropes. This same chant, surprisingly uncensored, does not die down as the two wrestlers lie on the floor outside the ring, dazed from the high-impact aerial move; on the contrary, its force only intensifies, as if urging Anderson to stand up and capitalise on what he has accomplished.
Even still, it takes the Brit a long moment to recover enough to where he is able to once again get to his feet. Fortunately, however, Lacklan was left much worse for wear from the move, and Anderson has plenty of time to roll the blonde into the ring without her so much as putting up a reaction. Once he has done so, he rolls over the top of her for a cover! The referee counts out the fall!
ONE!
TWO!
No! Sarah comes to life and somehow rolls Craig over, covering HIM!
ONE!
TWO!
Craig shoves Sarah off the top of him, and returns to his feet with a kip-up, which draws a roar of approval from the fans! Then, as Sarah makes her way up to her own feet, he runs in and leaps up into a dropkick, which sends the blonde hurtling down to the mat once again! Another cover ensues!
ONE!
TWO!
--Sarah with the shoulder up!
The two wrestlers roll back to their feet, just as Katherine Kensington is heard announcing five minutes have elapsed. Sarah Lacklan is still clearly woozy from Craig Anderson's latest offensive spell, but nonetheless tries to guess at her opponent's location and run in his general direction, looking to mount up an offense.
Dazed and confused as she is, however, she is an easy prey for the more experienced Craig Anderson. More than ready for the blonde's charge, the Brit promptly dodges, and just as quickly reverses it into his trademark 'Quavers Clutch' – a Koji clutch which catches Sarah completely by surprise and puts her in all kinds of trouble!
The fans roar as, caught completely unaware, the blonde is unable to mount up a defence quickly enough, and – not being the bravest of wrestlers to begin with – quickly cries out in submission! The referee kneels down next to her, and – barely able to keep the smile off his features – asks her to confirm that she submits. Sarah promptly confirms precisely that, nodding for emphasis, and the referee is just as quick to give the indication to the outside – The Vision have scored the first fall of the match, as the result of a submission!
FIRST FALL by Submission in 05:16: The Vision
The announcement is met with a rousing round of cheering from the stands, which does not subside as the traditional 45-second break between falls is enforced, in order for both sets of wrestlers to recover and regroup. Each duo takes this time to talk strategy, although moods in each corner are visibly different, with The Vision being calm and collected while Team Kickass appear far less at ease, Sarah especially.
Even still, Kenzi Grey manages to assuage her Beloved's fears, mainly by offering to take up the role of legal woman for the second round, or 'session' as it is called in this type of match. Conveniently, across the ring, Owen has the exact same idea, and asks Craig to let him get in, a request the Brit is happy to concede to.
As such, when the second fall begins, the legal man and woman in each team have completely changed – it is now Kenzi Grey who finds herself head to head with Owen Gonsalves. What has not changed, however, is the tone of the match, as Kenzi promptly backs away from the Australian, hands in the air, asking for 'a hot sec' before they begin. Owen does not appear too happy about this, but eventually concedes to the request, backing away from Kenzi and allowing her to regain her own corner. There, Grey exchanges a few words with Sarah before once again stepping forward, this time nodding at both the referee and Owen.
Even still, seeing what Lacklan was capable of earlier, the Australian is wary, and chooses not to go on the offensive, instead hanging back cautiously, waiting for an opening he can explore. Kenzi does not appear in any rush to engage him either, however, and the two therefore find themselves at a standstill for a long moment, neither one taking on the role of aggressor. This appears to suit Kenzi just fine, though Owen – and the fans – are a little less patient, as shown by the Australian pacing and fidgeting. Even still, Kenzi continues to refuse to engage, even after Owen makes a couple of experimental lunges in her direction.
Eventually, it takes the referee intervening, and telling her to stop stalling, to get Kenzi to wrestle – a request met with a pointed roll of the eyes. Only after this expression of disapproval has been put across does the dreadlocked superstar step forward...
...and immediately find herself being pulled in by a fed-up Owen Gonsalves, directly into a short-arm clothesline!
The crowd roar as the other half of Team Kickass is taken down, and Owen takes a moment to acknowledge the cheers with a raised hand, as he waits for Grey to return to her feet. Then, once she does, he promptly steps in and traps her head, setting her up for a suplex, which he delivers a moment later!
Seeing her Beloved being taken down once again triggers Sarah Lacklan, who begins to yell at the official about how Owen is being too quick and not letting Kenzi get up fast enough. The claim is, of course, preposterous, and meets with boos from the crowd and a telling off from the referee, who tells Sarah to stay in her corner and accept the rules. The Albino Queen, however, seems less than willing to comply, and as such, the referee is forced to spend another moment longer in the corner, admonishing her.
This is, of course, precisely what Sarah is aiming for, as her intervention gives Kenzi time to connect with an illegal closed-fist punch to Owen's stomach, as he goes to pull her in once more. Caught by surprise, the Australian doubles over, and Kenzi promptly lets off another illegal punch, this time hitting him in the back of the head. Then, as Owen crashes to the mat, dazed, she rolls over the top of him – just as, conveniently, Sarah relents in her protestations. The Firestarter is quick to point towards the centre of the ring instead, warning the referee, and the latter promptly begins the count.
ONE!
TWO!
TH---NO!!! Shoulder up by Owen Gonsalves!!
The crowd erupt as the fan-favourite journeyman comes out on the right side of Team Kickass's questionable tactics, and ensures his team retain the advantage. Kenzi, however, seems far less pleased, and promptly turns on the referee, accusing him of doing a slow count on purpose, to conspire against Team Kickass! Ever ready to stand by the love of her life, Sarah is equally as quick to jump on the newly-started bandwagon, and the two women take a long moment to round up on the referee.
What Team Kickass have forgotten, however, is that the referee can fight back in this type of match – which he promptly does, issuing both women with public warnings. Sarah's tally therefore rises to two, Kenzi receiving her first one, as Katherine Kensington indicates a moment later.
More importantly, however, this loss of focus allows Owen Gonsalves time to recover and get back into the match – an opportunity the Aussie does not waste. Kenzi still has her back turned when the veteran lunges forward and pulls her into his trademark bridging German suplex, holding onto it for a pin! The referee counts!
ONE!
TWO!
---the crowd groans as Kenzi shakes loose!
Owen himself shrugs off the failed attempt as he rolls through to his feet once again and prepares to start over. He leans in and spins Kenzi around, pulling her in close...
….and gets a headbutt for his troubles!
Having sent her opponent reeling with the questionable yet legal move, and thus regained control of the match, Kenzi is quick to follow through with a heel kick, which sends Owen spiralling into Team Kickass's corner. Understanding her Beloved's intentions, Sarah profits from the fact that the referee's vision is blocked, and quickly wraps the tag rope around Owen's neck, strangling him for no more than a moment before her partner comes running in with a corner splash. Craig Anderson indignantly points out to the referee that there are shenanigans afoot, but by the time the official walks over to investigate, he sees nothing untoward, and simply indicates Kenzi should take Owen out of the corner – a request she is surprisingly quick to comply to.
A moment later, the reason behind this becomes a little less mysterious, as – with Owen still on his knees – Kenzi goes into a handstand position and wraps her legs around her opponent's head, before connecting with a headscissors DDT! The Blockbuster connects, and Kenzi covers, as the referee counts out the fall.
ONE!
TWO!
THREE!
And Team Kickass equalise the match!
SECOND FALL at 09:45: Team Kickass
The crowd boo the underhanded way in which the fall was obtained, but none are more vocal than Craig Anderson. Knowing what he saw, he continues to point out to the referee that Team Kickass have cheated, and should not have been given the fall. The official tells him, in no uncertain terms, to quiet down, and that the fall counted, but Anderson is relentless; in fact, if anything, his tone becomes even more agitated after he is given his talking-to. This, in turn, leaves the referee with no other option than to give him an official verbal warning – the first for The Vision!
This decision brings boos from the crowd, which drown out Katherine Kensington's announcement that ten minutes have elapsed in the bout, and continue to rain down as the fighters step forward for the beginning of the third and final round. Craig, still indignant, prevents Owen from stepping forward, instead tagging himself in and going directly after Kenzi Grey as she prepares to re-enter the ring. The celebrity offspring lets out a piercing scream as she gets rushed, which, when combined with Sarah Lacklan's equally indignant shrieking, yields its desired effect; a very angry referee comes to retrieve Anderson and send him back to his corner, while issuing The Vision with their second public warning. In just a few seconds, the fan-favourites have found themselves on equal terms with their opponents when it comes to the risk of disqualification – and the crowd makes it known precisely what they think of that fact!
With the boos nearly drowning Katherine Kensington's announcement that ten minutes have elapsed, the round starts over again, with Anderson still as the legal man, but now facing off against Sarah Lacklan – who is still intent on giving him a piece of her mind regarding his supposed mistreatment of Kenzi.
Anderson, however, is smarter than to fall for the bait, instead doing his best to shut off Lacklan's constant stream of abuse and focusing on looking for an opening. Predictably, distracted as she is with hurling abuse in his direction, the blonde neglects to properly put her defences up, and Craig has no trouble moving in and pulling her close, trapping her head and delivering a big snap suplex! The blonde goes flying overhead, to a big cheer from the crowd, and Craig spins around, promptly stepping in so that he can be ready for when Sarah gets up. When this happens, a moment later, he is waiting to throw her over with a German suplex! The move connects, and Craig keeps his hands wrapped around Sarah's waist, going for a second! This one lands crisply as well, and Anderson promptly twists his hips once again, to connect with a third! Sarah Lacklan goes flying back across the mat as her opponent releases her, drawing a huge cheer from the crowd.
It is at this point that Kenzi Grey once again decides to take matters into her own hands, and very blatantly makes as if to enter the ring. Predictably, the referee wastes no time in coming over and admonishing her, instructing her to stay in her team's corner and not interfere, or risk disqualification – a request Kenzi is surprisingly agreeable to. 'Surprisingly', that is, unless fans are paying attention to what is going on behind the referee's back as he admonishes Grey – namely, a quick opportunistic eye-rake from Sarah Lacklan to Craig Anderson, which throws him off-balance and allows her to connect with a quick headbutt, which sends him careening into the ropes. Sarah gives hot pursuit, and has just enough time to connect with a few closed-fist punches before the referee turns around...to see her innocently hitting Craig with palm strikes.
The sound of the crowd becomes deafening as the Albino Princess gets away with her antics and turns the tide of the match towards Team Kickass, for perhaps the first time since the bell has rung. She takes advantage of this turn of events by keeping Anderson pinned to the ropes with knee strikes, wearing down his midsection. Then, on the last knee strike, she suddenly grabs the back of his head and pushes down, causing his face to meet her knee in a single-knee facebreaker!
Her move successfully completed, Sarah is – predictably enough – not above a victory strut, which she performs to deafening boos from the crowd. Then, not breaking her strut in the slightest, Sarah walks over and tags in Kenzi!
With her opponent downed and still close enough to capitalise – despite his efforts to crawl towards his own team's corner – Kenzi is quick to reach down and grab Craig's legs, looking for a sharpshooter. Anderson is having none of it, however, and promptly rolls over onto his back, shaking his opponent away with a boot to the stomach. Then, as Kenzi reels, Anderson attempts yet another kip-up, which once again meets with the approval of the crowd...
...but also the business end of Kenzi Grey's boot!
The heel kick catches Craig completely by surprise, and he is sent reeling towards the corner, giving Team Kickass yet another opening. Seeing this, Kenzi is quick to tag Sarah back in, and the Firestarter is even quicker to run in and connect with a huge corner knee strike! Too groggy to dodge it, Anderson catches its full force, slumping down even further – a situation which prompts Sarah to make a mocking gesture at Owen, wiggling her hand in front of her nose. Once again, this causes a deafening reaction from the crowd, but Sarah somehow manages to shut it off, as she pulls Craig towards the centre of the ring and looks towards Kenzi, pointing towards the ring post, her meaning perfectly clear: Kenzi should go up top. The heiress to the Grey name gives her beloved a quizzical look, but the Red Queen continues to insist, and her partner eventually relents, climbing the turnbuckle as, down below, Sarah splays Craig's legs wide open.
Anticipating what is coming, the crowd immediately begin to boo, once again drowning out Katherine's announcement that fifteen minutes have now elapsed. A moment later, however, their jeers to turn to cheers as the referee steps in and tells Sarah 'absolutely not'. He then walks over to the turnbuckle, to try and prevent Kenzi from carrying out her plan....leaving an opening for Sarah herself to connect with a crotch elbow, which leaves Craig writhing! The crowd begin to boo as, in the corner, Owen Gonsalves expresses his indignation; the referee, however, is still busy getting Kenzi down from the turnbuckle, and as such, sees none of this. That, in turn, gives Sarah the confidence to try and get away with the same trick again, connecting with a punch to Anderson's face for good measure before launching into another crotch elbow...
...which the referee is just quick enough to spot!!!
The crowd roar as the official gives the indication that Team Kickass has picked up a third public warning, and been disqualified!!
WINNERS by Disqualification in 16:01: The Vision
Hearing the official decision, a livid Sarah Lacklan and Kenzi Grey immediately spring to their feet, surrounding the referee and giving him a piece of their collective minds. Sarah, in particular, appears ready to drop yet another referee with her trademark punch, but Kenzi puts her off it, instead pointing to the still downed and helpless Anderson. Understanding her beloved's meaning, Sarah retorts with a nod of her own, and the two step in closer to the journeyman wrestler, beginning to take turns in punishing him with Box Office groin elbow shots!
The noise from across the water once again becomes deafening as the two women punish their defenceless opponent, taking out their frustrations on him now that they are no longer bound by the rules. It appears as though, despite the result, Team Kickass will have the last laugh...
...until Owen Gonsalves turns the crowd's jeering back to cheering by invading the ring and dropping Sarah with a stiff punch! Caught unaware, the Red Queen goes down, as Owen advances on her consort.
Seeing her life flash before her eyes, Kenzi slides through the bottom rope, leaning down to retrieve something from her corner – Ace Watson's VoW Zero Gravity Belt!!! With it clutched firmly in her hand, she then slides back into the ring and advances on Owen, clearly intending to hit the Australian with his own tag team partner's old Championship belt!!
This action predictably meets with a deafening round of boos from the Scarborough Open Air Theatre's stands – but only until Owen dodges the attempted weapon shot and retaliates by smashing his fist into Kenzi's face as well, causing the Zero-G belt to go flying across the mat and the controversial superstar to drop to the mat directly next to her life partner! Then, with justice having been served to both members of Team Kickass, he gently lifts up his personal friend and partner for the evening, draping him across his shoulders and carrying him out of the ring and up the ramp, to the applause of the crowd. The Vision's first foray in UKWF has a bittersweet ending...
