The camera turns on to the sight and sound of static. The image continuously warps and shows an old version of a movie introduction.
Picture Start
10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2
Instead of a one, or even static, the image turns red as a blood-curdling scream rings out. The image continues with the cameraman wandering, lost in a dark and foggy forest. We can clearly hear the man's breathing, and it's short, choppy, and rushed. Music plays softly underneath.
What's most apparent, overtop of it all is the static cuts that bring short bursts of conversation from Marcus LeVine.
"It's sad isn't it?
------------------
The darkness inside of us?
------------------
Tell me...
------------------
Is it wrong?
------------------
To be so deeply enigmatic
------------------
When I hear a man scream
------------------
Bleed
------------------
Cry?
The camera fully comes in, and Marcus stands on a black backdrop. He wears a full black suit, a white undershirt, and a red tie. His head is slightly cocked to his right and a sickening smile covers his face. Throughout the footage, his face warps to reveal a painted skull before very quickly snapping back to his normal face.
"Well hello there.
For those of you, who are just now being acquainted with me: I am the Maniac Marcus LeVine.
You've surely heard of me?
I'm the man terrorising this company from the bottom up. You all have called me a psycho in the past, a crazy man, a villain. I want you all to ask yourselves: Are you better?
I have given in to that base need that you all clearly hide. Let's look at Ace Watson, you're not a good guy are you Ace?
Now, that's not me insulting you, in fact, it's a compliment, I appreciate a bad man, a villain.
But you...
Well, you're hiding something aren't you Ace. You can hear it, you all can.
You all want to snap that bank tellers arm, you all want to smack that annoying kid across the face, and you all have one person, you'd never miss.
We all live with demons, but I've allowed these demons to manifest.
Ask yourself:
Can you be trusted?
Instead of the screen warping, the paint seems to crawl up his face slowly as he talks, the longer and longer he speaks the more of his face the paint fills.
Do you hate your enemies?
... Do you hate those closest to you?
Are you truly a hero?
As the old saying goes you either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain.
So, if this place truly houses heroes, then I'll be happy to make sure you don't become villains.
And Ace...
Well, you've already given into the wickedness, so it seems that I'll be doing the world a favour.
As he finishes his statement, the skull disappears.

The footage of a cameraman walking lost in the forest continues. The forest is becoming much more gruesome as it becomes much more densely packed, and many of the trees had blood splattered on it, and on the ground, where the cameraman's feet had been snapping twigs, the man was now forced to walk over discarded bones. Marcus's singing is heard softly in the background.
"I killed a man, just to watch him bleed oh what a feeling his screams, they set me free."
The screen went black as a scream was let out.
Marcus LeVine came onto the screen, his face one of absolute delight. Not childish in nature, but rather his own brand of twisted delight that sent shivers up your spine as he chuckled to himself lightly. There was a very familiar sight of red running down his jaw as he began to speak.
"Sorry. I was getting quite tired of trespassers.
Ladies and gentleman, ask yourself this:
What is insanity? Is it that feeling of being... unhinged? Is it when sickening thoughts run through your head? Is it enjoying the sounds of violence?
Well, you all seem to think so.
Including you Mr Watson, you I'm deranged, unhinged, and no matter how you'd like to spin it, you're scared of that.
My mind scares you because you know my mind doesn't have that thing that tells most men to stop. When I step in that ring I am, as I've said before, the bon vivant of violence. I have an ace up my sleeve Ace. What do you have?
Have you your strikes?
Mine hit harder.
Have you your conditioning?
Mine lasts longer.
Have you that legacy lock of yours?
Well, I have a hold that hurts a hell of a lot more, my new Kimura. A move I've been perfecting around the world.
Wait, wait, wait... You have your Fightbreaker. Well I have a move that looks pretty similar, and I hit mine harder.
I already called you out, I already told the world that you are just as insane as me. What do you have to say for yourself? Are you going to defend that claim? Are you going to pretend that you're not unhinged?
Ace Watson, there's a very simple reason that I beat you. It's because I've given in to those demons.
What are you willing to do in that ring?
Because there is
NOTHING
That I won't do to the human body. Look at me, and you'll find no solace, no remorse, no give. You'll just find...
A maniac."

Footage from the Broadcast Championship Battle Royal which took place two weeks before plays, recapping the ending to the match. The video shows a slow motion replay before switching to a ringside fan's footage. While annoyingly the phone camera was vertical, you can just about see that Watson and LeVine’s feet hit the mat at the same time, and another slow motion cut confirms it.
The footage fades to black, and after a few seconds fades into a scene where Ace Watson sits watching those same clips we had just seen. He looks at the camera, a regretful smile on his face.
“Yeah, that was a draw.” He pauses. “But that won't happen at Battle Lines. I'll make sure of it.” He nods, his unsure smile turns to a confident one.
“Becoming Broadcast Champion has been something I've wanted to do ever since the title’s beginnings at the start of this year. I was in the very match that decided the inaugural champion, which was a Battle Royal much like the one at Undercard Heroes, only bigger.”
“I was the second last elimination in that match, and then after that I had to sit back and watch while other people who weren't as close as me to winning that title got second shots at it before I did.” Watson looked slightly annoyed for a moment, thinking back on it, but he stayed calm, almost as if he had remembered he was over it all. “I was busy at the time dealing with the woman who is going to be in my corner for this match. Which is quite funny, looking back on it all now…”
Watson chuckles softly.
“Also, at that time, I wasn't getting as much appreciation as I felt I deserved. That's why I wanted the Broadcast Championship. I wanted to prove myself, prove that I was as good as I said I was. What better way to do that than by winning the ‘lowest’ ranked title this company has, defending it every single show until I could cash it in for a shot at the North Sea championship, win that, then so on to the United Kingdom Championship.”
“The goal for everyone in this company is to hold that title. Some will go straight for it, some will target the North Sea, skipping straight past it like they think they're above it. But I don’t. I've held the ‘lowest ranked’ title in a company before, and I put everything into making it feel like the grandest prize of them all.”
Ace pauses, takings breath, still looking at the camera.
“I want to do it again…”
Ace nods, his passion and drive for the title that had eluded him for almost half of a year evident in the tenseness of his body as he spoke to the camera.
“And I know I can.”
Ace smiles at the camera, it's confident without being cocky, like so many of his smiles before had been. He was ready.

Watson’s confident smile fades…
“But of course, I'm not underestimating my opponent. There was a reason Marcus LeVine lasted to the final two of that Battle Royal. And that's because he's good. But… I’ve seen his type before. He calls himself crazy, he calls himself unhinged. Hell, he even calls me unhinged, when I'm often the only sane one around here!”
Ace laughs, knowing at times he does not exactly seem sane, given some of his occasional antics.
“But really, I know the truth. One, I'm not crazy, and two? Well, it's likely that LeVine isn't either.”
He shrugs his shoulders.
“I've seen it all before, I’ve taken on people like Marcus LeVine in the past. And I'm willing to do it again. See you can try to scare me with your songs and threatening words, but it won't work on me. I know you're not really a ‘Maniac.’ I know it's just scare tactics. I see past it.”
Ace looks into the camera. He had been talking directly to LeVine.
“So, you called me out… consider this me calling you out. Prove me wrong.”
Watson takes a moment, holding his look down the lens, before speaking again shortly after.
“And, LeVine claims that his strikes hit harder, his conditioning is better than mine and that his trademark moves are stronger than mine. He also went on to say how he had ‘told the world’ about how I'm ‘unhinged’. But, that's all it was… Words. He said it, but he provided no evidence. All I see are empty claims. Those are the mistakes I made, often, not too long ago. I spoke, but I didn't back up what I said. That's why I’ve had three shots at this title and it still is not in my arms.”
“But that's what has driven me, my desire to back-up my confident claims. To prove myself. I’ve said it before, but I want that title. A lot. I want it more than you, LeVine. And not only will that help me beat you, but so will the fact that my strikes do hit harder, my conditioning is better than yours and that my Fightbreaker and my Watson Legacy Lock are stronger than any move you could pull out of your arsenal.”
“So yes, I'm denying your claims, I'm disputing them.”
“But.”
“Something I just want to say… To you, Marcus.”
“You seem to think that I'm unhinged, that I'm as crazy as you and that I’m hiding something inside me. Earlier I denied those claims. But now, I want to make a promise to you.”
“You seem to want to see that side of me, so, Marcus, I'm going to give it to you. You want an unhinged Ace Watson? You got it. Because right now, I want nothing but the outcome of that match to be me holding the Broadcast Championship, celebrating with my friend at ringside and with the fans.
“Because I don't think I'll get another chance.”
Fade to black.
