All warfare is based on deception. - Sun Tzu, The Art of War
“Deception, I've made a habit out of that ever since I first stepped foot into wrestling. Coach will tell you that I was lagging behind the pack during the fifty lap cardio, and he told me to get to the front in ten seconds or risk being cut. I wasn't lagging, I was lapping the group for the third time... He was impressed needless to say when the group groaned at being taken over again.”
The camera opened up, Hana's office, the Korean was busy, headset on for the microphone as the speakers played the sounds of a video game.
“Even now it carries on. I do a lot of modelling, let people buy into the image that the Pint Size Korean chick is more interested in showing off her legs and posing for the camera, let the people underestimate me, it's done me well so far as they never hear the kick that knocks them out on their back for the three count. Depending on where it hits, they either wake up and develop the headache from the concussion later on, or they wake up with their liver screaming at them because it's damned painful to be knocked out like that.”
“The staff who put the card up pointed it out, there's a lot of power in these legs, the kicks are powerful and I will admit this, nowhere near the full power I could unleash. The Kiyap, or Kiai if you're Japanese, is the scream or shout that releases the energy of the strike, you see it happen when board breaking or Step Sparring, in the latter it signals that you've finished your movements, in the former, it helps you break stuff. When I fight in the ring, that scream follows the final kick, if I unleashed and kicked someone hard enough, I could do a lot more damage.”
“Sun Tzu himself speaks of encouraging arrogance by pretending to be inferior. I always seek to win before I step into the ring and going up against Erik Scorpion, a man who doesn't play well with others, but has no problems stroking his own ego if my scouting work has anything to say on him. If he thinks that fighting me is going to be a walk in the park, he's in for a shock. He has the size advantage, but we both have the same amount of experience near enough and the culture shock of styles won't make it easy. The showman style vs a variant of Strong Style and Technical. I'm pulling my kicks just enough to stop me outright killing but still provide a lot of pain, and for every kick that hits me, he's getting three back. Six if I'm feeling generous or catch him right with the foot. I'll see you in Cambridge Erik.”
With a wave to the camera and a smile, the screen flickered out...

“Deception…”The voice of Erik Scorpion can be heard, even when there’s no image appears on screen. The completely blacked out screen continues in its place as he continues. “Sometimes, deception can be a good thing. Like, when you’re in the middle of a poker game, you don’t want your opponents to know what hand you’ve been dealt. In politics, where you don’t want everyone to know exactly what type of person you are… but in wrestling…” Scorpion takes a deep breath as the scene opens up revealing him sitting in the middle of a ring inside an empty armory. “In wrestling, deception only gets you so far.
“Yes, my dear, miss Park. You’ve deceptively strong. Your small frame packs a huge punch. But, you’re falling into the same rhetoric your partners, the last time we met, fell into.” Erik cracks his fingers, as he hangs his head low and then looks directly to the camera. "You speak about me being bigger than you, like it was something that mattered in this day and age. No, Park… it doesn’t matter how big I am… and you yourself bring up the reason for why it doesn’t matter… your strength. Your technique. The way you go into a match…. Those are things that become equalizers whenever it’s time to battle.” A sigh escapes him as he continues speaking. “Yet, you decided to make yourself seem the lesser of the two.”
Erik scratches his head rapidly, like he’s trying to come up with an answer or a witty comment, but nothing flows. Then, after a couple of seconds he decides to speak again. “I honestly don’t get where you’re going with your speech. Because, to me it’s trying to justify things. If you beat me… it’s because you’re deceptively strong. If you lose, it’s because I’m bigger and stronger. Yet… where does that left me… Park… where I stand in your rhetoric?” Scorpion gives a chuckle and starts pointing towards the camera as he decides to speak again. “I know… I’m in the lose, lose situation. The one where people who don’t really know what to say, want to throw their opponents in… just because, they don’t know how to play this game we call wrestling. But I’m not one to lose.”
He takes a deep breath as he looks to the right and then goes back to look directly to the camera. “You saw it last week, when after we got defeated… GOZOKU and I decided to get rid of the weak link in the trio. Yet, somehow… you… miss Park… decided it was a good idea to try and put me in a situation where I find myself with my back against the wall. You tried to use deception to lure the people that might be hearing your words into a trap… a trap that will only lead to their demise…. As you… fail to defeat me. Not because I’m bigger… but because I’m better. Guess I’ll see you in Cambridge.”
