BEGIN.
There’s a spark followed by a burst of white light and as it dissipates, you, the viewer, find yourself outside shrouded in darkness by the night sky, with only the glow of stars to light your limited view.
UKWF Rookie, JJ Young, steps forward into dimly lit view with the night sky and scattered stars as his backdrop.
He speaks, “I’ve been summoned to tell you all about pride--here to talk to you about Declan Black and Mark Storm. Both men claim extensive backgrounds in a sport seemingly tailored to their needs. Yet, they both own ego fueled pride which grows like a mushroom cloud with a power far beyond their true means. They claim to be filled with pride and promise, yet they’re empty as a politician’s promises.”
He flashes his bright white teeth which seem to glow against the dark backdrop.
“Declan claims to be the ‘Pride of Nova Scotia’ and he can have that. Still, words fall on deaf ears like so many tears shed by those who claimed victory and attained only defeat. Travel the streets of Halifax and you will not find the name “Declan Black” escaping the lips of a single resident. Pride turned this ordinary ring rat into a wicked man claiming that which does not belong to him. Championships turn to dust in a uncharted territory; success will not come easy. Pride leads Declan down a path of inevitable ridicule and I cannot save him from this. His pride, driven by money and privilege, will not heed a warning from a cleric such as myself. He will merely lose himself in his own pomp and circumstance.”
A shooting star jets over his head, disappearing into the darkness, leaving only a greenish vapor trail which dissipates quickly.
“Mark seems a suitable pairing with Declan. He also refers to himself as the ‘best wrestler’ in the business. Again pride violates standing. He is a man who must remember that former promotions carry the weight of a feather when entering new realms. Yet, his limited view glimpses only his own self imposed greatness. This view leaves him blinded to the many threats lurking in the darkness. Mark seems driven, yet, supplements this drive with a sense of self importance. In our society driven by capitalist greed, Mark should know--nothing is invested without the expectation of a return. Mark Storm has proven himself to be a capricious individual who shows great drive and interest yet overextends himself and flames out. UKWF will be no different once he is face to face with the gravity of his no-win situation.”
A soft chuckle escapes his lips.
“I do not suffer from pride as I have no time for it. I am merely mortal; attempting to make my name known. I will earn my notoriety. I cannot speak for my opponent, but when the time comes at Fallout, it will be lights out.”
END.

You Hero, and..
I don't know what I am.
I don't know what I've become.
But what can be said is that I am not the same man I once was. That's a certainty. It's been a while since I've wrestled here in the UK. It's been a while since I've wrestled on a regular basis but I had to take some time off. The majority of people understand due to my hectic regime, but others felt let down. A small minority of people felt let down. And I apologise for my dismissal, my sudden disappearance to the background. I abandoned you.
I wish I could tell you I won't do it again but that's the thing with Mark Storm. You never know what's going to happen with him. One minute he can be at the top of the ladder and the next he's hit rock bottom. Right now, he's at the bottom of the food chain with the goal to rise. This promotion has grown in abundance. You can see that. It's become one of the marquee independent promotions in the world and you have to thank those who affiliate themselves with the brand. Those who step between those ropes and give it their all, they're the reason why this promotion has risen to the top of the indy charts.
Do I credit myself as a contributor?
I've done my fair share. I've had a few memorable matches, but I've merely scratched the surface. It's only been glimpses and that's what haunts me. What you've seen, are merely glimpses. But on the 28th of March, I come back in full fruition; glimpses no more, this is my all, this is my everything. I had time to recuperate. I had time to rethink about my career. And it's time to etch my name into the archives of this promotion.
Declan Black is someone who shares the same vision as me. Someone who wants to create a legacy, a dynasty and has done a lot to contribute to his own legacy. He embodies everything I'm about, and because of that we have this mutual respect for one another, teaming with each other in the past. On the 28th, we reunite as a team; to take on a duo who aren't as known within the industry, but we aren't mistaking their quietness. JJ Young and Hana Park.
Do the kids have what it takes to take on two veterans like myself and Declan Black?
Maybe they do. But in my books; experience and class is what wins you wrestling matches. Experience, I have an abundance of that, so does Declan. And class, well that's something you never lose. Class is permanent.

“Tenets change from discipline to discipline”
The camera flickered to life in the Park Dojang in Malibu, California. Hana Park knelt on the mats, dressed in a white dobok, the Korean was stretching out her back, no doubt warming up before teaching a class.
“In Taekwondo, it's drilled into you; Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control and Indomitable Spirit. Courtesy to others to show respect to those who are a higher grade, Integrity that you don't lie to yourself when doing anything, Perseverance that you keep on trying, with patterns, Self control when you get angered during a situation but don't lash out, and Indomitable Spirit, carrying on no matter how tired or sore you are.”
“When it comes to wrestling, seems three of those do not matter that much as they do in Taekwondo. And I'm not exactly the most courteous of opponents to those I face when I'm in the ring, as those who remember me Misting Shazza the first time I made a UKWF appearance will note. My skills with my educated feet notwithstanding, I've made a few changes since my last major appearances, more focus on improving my grappling game with the highflying when it's necessary.”
She moved up, flexing back to stretch out further.
“And in this coming match, it's might well be necessary. If I can't beat them on the mat with a kick, and a lot of folks who have tasted my kicks have rushed to get me banned from doing Superkicks. But I've gone on a tangent. Across from the ring, Declan Black, the Pride of Nova Scotia, who seems to be one of the many people that though respected by the crowd, can play dirty with the best and Mark Storm, Your Hero and Mine. Heard it a lot of self proclaiming best of this, that and the other. Doesn't matter to me if they were the Queen of England or Prince Charles. If they are in the ring with me, they are an opponent who I will fight.”
“And that's what this team will be bringing. Between me and JJ, we are seemingly the underdogs, no experience teaming together, nor are we the biggest dogs in the fight. I bring myself back to Indomitable Spirit which I have in abundance, or another word for it is Heart. I've been through Basic Training, trained as a third generation Taekwondo competitor who has won World Championship medals and trophies, including fighting with a broken nose and orbital socket in those gold fights. I'm the smallest one in the match, but better believe that no matter what costume you see, the thing that matters is who's wearing it and what she can do to you! Don't let the warm up display that I'm planning on putting on backstage put you off with the stone slabs, they are my weapons wetstone. Don't forget your gumshields.”
And with a salute to the camera, the former Staff Sergeant vanished into the fadeout.

*Declan Black, nattily attired in a suit, sans tie, speaks from his estate in the City of London. A fireplace roars merrily beside the recliner he’s seated in, and the Seattle Pro Wrestling World’s Championship belt lays on Declan’s lap. He speaks with a distinctive Atlantic Canadian lilt in his voice, with the tone of a man used to being listened to.*
My name is Declan Black. I am the current Seattle Pro Wrestling World’s Heavyweight Champion, having defeated the man who holds the UKWF Broadcast Championship, James Edwards. I’m also a world-travelled veteran, I’ve had success across the wrestling world. So, I hear people asking, why am I coming to the United Kingdom Wrestling Federation?
You see, James Kensington is a longtime friend of mine. I dated Katherine Kensington in the past, and I’m still one of her best friends. And I’m a very loyal man. I don’t forget my friends…and I don’t simply lay down when they’ve been wronged. Of course you, the UKWF fans, know that James was wronged, a long time ago, by one Stella Chalmers-Blythe. The syphilis of professional wrestling and the herpes of the world. My friend was effectively robbed by a useless, vindictive mattress hopper whose only arguable talent was finding a good lawyer that would make it sound like she deserved one pence of James’ hard-earned assets. Now, I can’t fix that. But, what I can do, is drive that bitch right out of UKWF.
So that, in short, is why I’m here. I’m here to bust up the outbreak of SCB, and make pro wrestling just a little bit of a better place for it. Now, I’m gonna warn you, I’m not a Blaise Fader or somebody like that. I don’t wear a white hat, and I’m more than happy to use any means I deem necessary to achieve my goals. Especially when it comes to the NME.
But for my debut, it’s not the NME I’m going to battle with. It’s the team of Hana Park and JJ Young. And I’ll be the first to admit, I’m a big Hana Park fan. I respect her pride and her sense of honor, and hey, anybody that hates New Management can’t be that bad. As for JJ Young, well, he’s certainly a few cards short of a full deck, if he thinks you can walk down Barrington Street and have nobody know who I am. I mean, how he knows that, I don’t know, considering I don’t think he’s ever been to Halifax…but I digress.
I don’t hate those guys, but I didn’t come to the UKWF to be just some guy. And so, me and my old friend Mark Storm, we’re going to win this match. And there’s going to be a new threat to New Management and the NME here in UKWF.
My advice, to everybody here?
Always bet on Black.
*Fade to black*
