“Honestly,” began that familiar Greek accent-laden voice, “I couldn’t believe the audacity of Eddie to try to demand answers.” There was clearly a tone of contempt present as Gaia glared at a random picture she had kept of her ex-boyfriend, Eddie Ramirez, while she pressed her smartphone to her ear. Gaia Galanos was one of the best professional wrestlers in the world, but when it came to a love life, she was someone who would just never get it.
Her jawline visibly tightened as she held back the anger, and secretly lingering feelings, she felt for him. She fought her tears and pretended that their existence was false. She didn’t have any lingering feelings toward that prick, but she did want to cause the world pain. Those icy eyes were so cold as they glared on the portrait of the retired professional wrestler. Suddenly, the wind blew through the door Gaia had left open, knocking the portrait over with a THACK!
“Truth is, though,” she said, narrowing her eyes at the fallen photograph, “he would have done the same thing. In fact, he did. Ask Jaxon Queen.” Gaia shook her head with a small, devious smile as she came to the realization that this was probably just another test from her beloved mentor and ex-boyfriend.
Gaia’s eyes scanned the silky sheets surrounding her on the bed. “I have to go, Mel,” she said as she laid back against the soft mattress and sank into it. “Love you, bye.” After ending the call, Gaia sighed as she reminisced upon everything Eddie had taught her; everything Madman Szalinski had taught her; and everything Pat Gordon, Sr. had taught her. She shook her head, realizing she may have misinterpreted some of the most important parts about their lessons. There were rules in matches, and while they were there for a perfectly good reason, they could be bent just like one of Gaia’s unfortunate victims in the ring.
“You brilliant sonsa’ bitches,” she muttered under her breath, realizing exactly how she would deal with Night Train at Violent Valentine’s. Maybe Eddie did still care. He had given her knowledge for the future after all. And, thanks to him, she carried with her a fury that would leave a path of destruction in its wake. The path to Triple Crown Champion was very real and alive for Gaia Galanos. Who knows, maybe she could get on the path to Grand Slam Champion with any luck. An amused smirk crossed those lips as she picked up the framed portrait of Eddie and set it on her bed stand. There would be no more doing things for everyone else, there would be no more waiting to be attacked, but, more importantly, there would be no more having to worry about a partner letting you down. Gaia Galanos would no longer be The Lioness. That wasn’t enough for her greatness. She was i drakoulínas, ‘the dragoness,’ and, soon, she would be sitting upon a pile of gold that would send her sky-rocketing directly to the UKWF Hall of Fame.
“Good night, Eddie,” she cooed in a whisper before turning out the light and drifting smoothly off to sleep.
