Our shot opens up in an empty, non-lit room but for the light of the moon shining in from what can only be assumed to be a window out of view. After a momentary period of silence, a voice is heard, echoing out from the darkness.
“You two are becoming a real thorn in our collective side.”
From the pitch black struts Léoni Frei, her sun-kissed golden hair braided into a ponytail as she stares right down the sights of the lens. With her perfect eyebrows arched into a menacing frown, Léoni takes a moment to rub her two chalked hands together before continuing.
“I have to commend you, though. Well done on getting our attention. Most don’t.”
She scoffs, a French-Swiss twinge in her voice - an arrogant tone and a cavalier attitude to accompany it.
“So maybe it’s stupidity, or maybe it’s bravery. Maybe it’s both. But around here? Getting our attention is something you don’t want to do.” Clenching a fist at her side, she peers down at it for a couple of seconds before looking back up into the camera. “I think we proved that at Singles Going Steady a couple of weeks ago, when the champion Skylynn Reed defeated Artemis Kaiser, then I dropped that fatass Blaise Fader with one of her own moves.”
Léoni takes a moment to chuckle to herself as she relives the ending to the show before cracking her neck, her laugh fading.
“And I get it. Really, I do. It doesn’t take a genius to realise that the both of you are going to want to exact your revenge on us at Night of Trials. I’m sure the both of you want to get your hands on us. But have you taken a moment to think? To really...think?” Fréi pauses, almost as if she was expecting an answer to her clearly rhetorical question. “Maybe there’s a lesson I can teach the two of you here. Don’t upset the status quo. Because I don’t think either of you understand what you’re getting yourselves into here. Some are meant to reign - and others are simply made to watch them reign. I wouldn’t recommend challenging that reality.”
With a smirk, the ‘Swiss Miss’ goes on.
“Skylynn is your Queen. She is your CHAMPION. And with me by her side, who is going to stop her? The both of you?” She laughs once more. “Try to stop her. But just remember that first? You have to go through me.
I know I’m inexperienced within the squared circle. Sure, my family has a wealth of it. But I’m not relying on that. My career for the past 5 years has solely revolved around leaving people unconscious in the middle of a cage - so I’ll be just fine. The two of you? Léoni Frei shrugs.
"...I wouldn’t count on it.”
With that, the shot fades to black.

Skylynn Reed “I don’t know what to say. I really don’t. I finally defeated my demon and you shove me right back in the ring with her?”
The UKWF Champion swallowed hard, shaking her head.
Skylynn Reed “I beat Artemis. She even bought me a cookie for it. See, Artemis, for all her faults and flaws, she gets me. Which, you see, is why it’s confusing for me that she’s actually teaming up with Miss Piggy. For you people. Kinda throws me for a loop.”
She bites her lip as she sits down at her desk, slipping her championship from her shoulder and placing it in front of her.
Skylynn Reed “I guess I’m confused with UKWF in general. In what universe does Blaise Fader get to be in a position to challenge for a championship? Maybe somewhere like the DC Extended Universe, they seem to be really good at screwing up their heroes.”
The champ rolled her eyes.
Skylynn Reed “So a Muppet and a dwarf. A demon dwarf, but a dwarf all the same. I think Faders leg weighs about as much as Arty. Arty has about as much talent in a follicle of her hair as Fader does in all of her blubber.”
She sighed.
Skylynn Reed “I don’t know what Artemis is thinking taking this match. Her place isn’t here. At the very least, if she wants a place here, she should pass on teaming with Blaise. I guess she still has it in her head that she needs to teach me a lesson but that’s just not the case. I learned all I needed when I bravely pinned her to the mat. When I showed her you don’t come into my house and step to me without getting shown the door.
Or so I thought…”
Sky shrugged her shoulders with a frown.
Skylynn Reed “And Blaise. Blaise doesn’t know how to keep her nose in her own business. What happened with me and Arty, it didn’t involve her. She had no right to be out there. She learned the hard way when she got sat the hell down. With her own big boot. Like she owns it or something. What a nut case. But you’ll bitch and moan about it when Léoni takes your head off again. And don’t even try to talk about how it won’t be so easy this time, because last time? Yeah… She didn’t break a sweat, boo.”
Sky kicked her feet up on the desk with yet another shrug.
Skylynn Reed “I should be relaxing. Get a show off, prepare for my title defense. One would think, anyway. But it’s like I’m being punished for being the best. Fight Artemis on back to back cards! Throw in the number one contender! Team with a rookie! A very strong, talented rookie, but still a rookie.
That’s fine. At the end of it all, I’m still champ.
And change is a-comin’, UKWF.”
The scene cuts to black rather abruptly.

"Oh, sod it all, not this again…"
Under a mess of blonde hair, Blaise’s hands rub at her eyes, her thick-rimmed glasses dangling from between her fingers. While her flat is dimly-lit, her face is illuminated by the glow of her laptop monitor – specifically, the blue glow of the Skype application. Her smartphone’s screen is similarly luminescent.
Sweeping her hair out of her face, Blaise cocks a confident, if not goofy smile at the camera.
"Startin' to look like déjà vu all over again, I'll bet. But don't get it twisted! This is not goin' down like my last tag match..."
Leaning back toward the laptop, Blaise minimizes the Skype window, pulling up a Google Images search for 'Artemis Kaiser - Wrestler'.
"See, unlike last time, my partner? She's got wrestlin' coursin' through her veins. Unlike one half of yer team, Sky, she's got mileage in this business, years of experience. HKW Tag Team Champion, GPW Tagstravaganza Winner, MSW Triple Crown Champion. The biggest expert in tag team warfare out of all of us, combined! An' we've decided to team up, the Unstoppable Force and the Immovable Object of UKWF!"
Blaised paused for a bit, lips pursing.
"... that's not our, uhh, team name, or anythin'. That's just a play on... y'know... point is, Artie Kaiser's got a a track record for knockin' people out - knockin' people like you an' yours out. Believe me, I look forward to adding to her long list of accolades. She's a wrecking ball! A wildcard! A renegade! She can't be bothered to stoop so low an' respond to catty gits like you, just like she can't be bothered to... well... answer my calls... or DM me... but at least I got her number this time!"
Blaise scoops up her phone, waggling it in front of the camera to showcase 'Artie K' in her Contacts list.
"In fact, this ain't just tag team warfare, this is psychological warfare! She's taken this to a whole 'nother level, 'cos she's not talkin'! She's probly afraid of is what she might say on camera, or somethin'! She don't wanna be held responsible for what she might do outside the ring, much less when the bell rings!
"As for me? You know what business we've got between us, Skylynn. You know that Title match is comin' up real soon, and I know that you know that you won't know what to do without yer dearly beloved or your dad-bod agent by yer side. Furthermore, to throw her into this match is irresponsible. She might be buff'n tuff, she might know how to steal my move, but she's hardly even trained! She could be dangerous in the ring - not in a helpful way, either! Like a 'danger to herself an' others' way!
"Despite what you may think, I take this seriously. I take us seriously. I look forward to when Leoni can prove herself in the ring, but our match, of all matches, isn't the place or time."

This is something strange, you know?
Losing is not something that happens to me often. Many people know that my win rate is somewhere obscenely high. In GPW, I lost, but it was never of my own volition, you know? I did not lose a singles match during my time there. I took that statistic out to other places where I kept it going until I lost to Salem Cartier, my loving wife, in the Young Guns Cup.
So to lose to Skylynn Reed is affecting one part of my brain. She beat me by using leverage on the ropes, but she can parade around the fact that she did pin me. Many people would argue against it, but I am not one of them. You do what it takes to win. Furthermore, there is a part of me that is…proud.
I do not know if it is maternal feelings building up. Skylynn Reed has a victory over me. She has finally “vanquished” her loudest demon. She can look herself in the mirror and tell her deranged self that she managed to beat me. As someone who only wants the best for her, I smile. I am happy for her. At the same time, I am furious. Not because of the match, no. It is because of what she did after. She began to let that budding ego of hers to flare up. She got her “enforcer” to try to take me out.
Leoni’s strong. Her blows kind of made me smile on the inside. She has the talent to be a brutal fighter, but she lacks the awareness of danger. She is letting her profound “love” for Skylynn make her an idiot, just like Skylynn did.
Unlike Skylynn, I do not care for Leoni. Not at all. In fact, I have an obligation to rip her asunder. And make Skylynn watch every moment of it. My partner, Blaise, has it out for Skylynn. That’s fine by me. She has her eyes zeroed in on taking that championship off her. She just needs to understand that she does not need to stand in my way. Because what is brimming over every bit of pride I have for my baby girl is vengeful anger.
She spat in my face.
No one spits in my face.
I am going to help Blaise out. I am going to make her title match easier for her. I am going to make it so Leoni cannot try to interfere. I am going to make Skylynn feel every kind of pain. I am going to make her cry like the little girl she is.
My radio silence is meant to be taken as a warning sign. When Artemis Kaiser, a woman who can pick up a microphone and silence a nation, does not speak up? That is not good. Ask Katalina. Ask Fable. Ask anyone and everyone who has reached this point.
Skylynn and Leoni know I am coming.
No person will protect them from me.
