Two in the morning. It was essentially clockwork at this point for Skylynn, her sleep would be interrupted, if she would get any at all. She sat up in the strange bed, next to the large frame of one Léoni Frei-Kanensson, the “Swiss Miss”, an MMA fighter based out of Vegas. Against Skylynn’s better judgement, she found herself falling.
The issue being, she was already taken.
It was partially why she couldn’t sleep, the thought of hurting someone like this when she had spent the better part of a year being hurt this same way…
Her fire red hair shook over her face, forcing the thought out of her head. She knew she was wrong, and what has been done has been done. It wouldn’t change. On top of that, however, was another problem. Sterling Everett.
Though Sky would never admit it, the number one contender to her championship intimidated her. Previous encounters, yes, she would go in confident. Project fearlessness. Project lies. A triple threat favored her, especially against two unknowns. She could go in without fear.
The assaults, however… The handicap match…
His explosiveness, his strength, everything about him scared the young Aussie. Six inches taller, more than double her weight. She can jump, hell at times it feels like she can fly, but he outmatches her in strength. Experience. Ability. For the first time in her admittedly short professional wrestling career, she was afraid. After clawing her way up into her first championship, it was mere days from being potentially yanked from her grasp.
Skylynn Reed “I can’t…”
The silence lingered in the room, Sky’s face dropped like she expected an answer.
Léoni Frei-Kanensson “Go back to sleep, champ.”
Skylynn Reed “I ca-..”
Sky couldn’t help but smile as Léoni had fallen back asleep as quickly as she awakened. She sunk back into bed, knowing full well that sleep was still a ways off. Hearing Léoni refer to her as “champ” did little to bolster her confidence heading into her match with Everett. If anything, it made her realize just how fleeting this opportunity was.
Nobody, not even Skylynn expects to be champion forever, but no one is ever prepared to lose. Given what the number one contender is capable of, it seems like a very real possibility that the Aussie sensation might find her reign one of sheer luck.
The thought would slowly gnaw at her thoughts as she eventually found herself drifting off to sleep...

Skylynn Reed “I’m a champion.”
The scene is simple, depicting Skylynn Reed sprawled out on a grassy hill, her UKWF Championship resting on her shoulder, covering up her black Sky Fire t-shirt. Her expression was distant, somewhat thoughtful.
Skylynn Reed “This is all I wanted. To call myself a champion. To be the face of a company. Not at first, no. At first I just wanted to fight people, but here I am…
I’m a champion. I’m THE champion of UKWF. I’ve heard a lot of things about my championship run, that it was a fluke, luck. That I’m undeserving of being the face of this rapidly growing wrestling company. That I won’t make it past my first defense against Sterling Everett.”
The young Aussie swallowed hard, shrugging her championship higher up her shoulder.
Skylynn Reed “Maybe I won’t. Maybe I’ll be lucky to walk away from the ring at the end of the night, given his desire to hurt people. Maybe I just can’t beat him one on one. I’ve had my doubts about it and I know a lot of other people have as well. Yeah, I’m fully expecting to march to the ring and get the hell beat out of me.
But I’m gonna hit the ring with my head held high, with MY belt held high. Keep knockin’ me down and I promise I’m going to keep getting back up. You’ll have to do a hell of a lot more than break my body. I’m going to fight for this until I don’t have any fight left.
It’s a shock that I’m sitting here with this belt anyway, yeah?”
She shook her head with a barely noticeable grin.
Skylynn Reed “Hell yeah it is. It was a shock when I got into wrestling, it was a shock when I actually was good at wrestling. It was a shock when I wrapped a car around a tree, and an even bigger one when I worked my way back into this industry. I’ve made a habit out of shocking myself and everyone else. I guess that’s the beauty of it. I know I can’t come into this full of bravado and confidence.
The more I think about it, the more I know that isn’t where my strength is. My strength lies in defying expectations, So I don’t know what’s going to happen. I wish I did. I wish I’d get some visions in the flames.”
She gives a knowing wink.
Skylynn Reed “But I don’t. All I know is, I’m not going to go down without a fight. If you’re going to take this championship from me, be prepared to have something taken from you in return. Don’t underestimate me, because you beat me when I felt over confident. You’ll need everything you have and then some.
See you soon, Everett. We’re going to settle this.”
Sky rose from the grass, brushing it from her jeans as she walked toward the camera. The video slowly faded out.
