“Me, me, me, me, me.” Ace looked into the camera, an unimpressed look in his eye. Suitcases lay behind him, half of them open with their contents spewed on the floor. The apartment he was in looked new and unfurnished, Ace had only just moved in after he had been kicked out of the home in Malibu he had shared with Bianca Davis. Recent revelations had lead them to separate, and not in a pleasant way.
“That's pretty much all I’m hearing from my Broadcast Championship Battle Royal opponents.. And when even I am calling people out on being that way then you know the situation must be bad. It's almost like these people are forgetting there are nineteen other people in the match. Nineteen competitors with their own strengths and weaknesses. Some more strengths than others, and some more weaknesses. But right now all I see are people talking a big talk, people saying that they're going to win this without any explanation why or how.”
“So, let me be the first.”
“Something I have learned in my career is that you don't have to be the tallest or strongest wrestler in a battle royal to win. If anything it's a disadvantage because everyone will want to team up to eliminate you. You don't need to be the fastest to win, either. All it could take it one wrong step, or a well timed dodge and a pull on the top rope and you're over the rope and out on the outside.
Ace scoffed. “But, what you need to be is intelligent. You need to know when to strike, when to stay back and who to target. You need to be able to seek out opportunities to get that surprise elimination, perhaps on someone with their back turned or their focus on someone else… Do you want it in simple terms? You need to be the smartest wrestler in the ring.”
He stood up, the camera moving with him as he walked through to the hallway, passing a window which revealed a small hint of the London skyline.
“And that's what I am, and have been everywhere I go. I've proven it too, these are not empty words. It was my in ring awareness, my opportunistic instincts and my natural ability to be in the right place at the right time that won me my Zero Gravity Championship, and it was those skills that made me the last ever to hold it.”
Ace stepped in closer to the camera, a focussed look painted across his face.
“Have no doubt, it will be those skills that make me the inaugural Broadcast Champion. I've been a champion before, which is not something a few people in this match can say, Alyssa Drew for example. And seeing as I no longer have to eliminate myself for anyone, all nineteen of the other competitors will have to wait even longer before they can get their hands on what will be my Broadcast Championship.”
